CURTEIS

(Manufacturing Facility)

Summary

A large-scale commercial solar PV installation designed to support Curteis’ manufacturing operations by reducing energy costs, improving sustainability, and increasing resilience to rising electricity prices.

Client Background

Curteis wanted to reduce reliance on traditional energy sources by generating clean electricity onsite for its manufacturing and office facilities. The project aimed to lower operational costs while strengthening environmental performance and improving long-term energy security.

The Challenge
  • Reduce electricity costs associated with energy-intensive manufacturing processes

  • Increase independence from fluctuating grid energy prices

  • Lower carbon emissions and support sustainability targets

  • Deliver a system capable of integrating across large roof areas

  • Provide a reliable solution that contributes to long-term cost stability

The Smart Energi Solution
  • Conducted a comprehensive assessment of energy usage, site conditions, and sustainability goals

  • Designed and installed a custom 140.69 kWp Solar PV system across manufacturing and office rooftops

  • Installed 339 × 415W Trina Solar Vertex S panels to maximise energy generation

  • Integrated 2 × SolarEdge 50kW inverters for optimised performance and enhanced safety

  • Used a GSE Integration mounting system suited to the building structure

  • Implemented real-time monitoring to track energy production, consumption, and performance

  • Recommended routine cleaning and maintenance to maintain long-term efficiency

Results & Impact
  • Provides a portion of the site’s electricity demand (approximately 10% annually)

  • Generates substantial long-term energy cost savings

  • Achieves annual savings of £16,687

  • Reduces carbon emissions by approximately 430,200 kg over 20 years

  • Improves protection against rising and volatile energy prices

  • Supports sustainability goals while enhancing brand reputation

  • Demonstrates a strong financial case with an estimated 8.2-year ROI

  • Eligible for incentives such as the Smart Export Guarantee, improving payback performance

Client Experience

The system integrates seamlessly with day-to-day manufacturing operations, providing measurable savings and live monitoring data without disrupting productivity.
